Answers:

1.  How do I get to the application?

Visit www.avon.dollarsforscholars.org  Once on our website click on the "Students & Parents" tab, then follow the various links to "Apply Now/Update Profile" or "Log-In" buttons.

2.  Can I fill out a paper application and mail it in?

Avon Dollars for Scholars exclusively uses an on-line application process for administering scholarships.

3.  Do I have to fill out my application all at once?

No.  As you fill out your Student Profile you will be able to save your work and come back later to update information.

4.  Do I have to fill out a different application for each scholarship?

No.  You only fill out ONE APPLICATION.  You may match to as many scholarships for which you may qualify.  Think of it as the "Common App" for scholarships.

5.  I have started an account but can't remember which e-mail address I used?

Please do not start another account!  Contact us at avon@dollarsforscholars.org and we will send you your e-mail information.  Please note that this is not an automated reply and may take up to 72 hours to receive a response.

6.  I am having technical difficulties with the website and application process.  What should I do?

There is a "help" link on the bottom of the left hand column of the Scholarship America application website.  If you cannot find the answers to your problem there, please contact us at avon@dollarsforscholars.org

7.  How many scholarships are available?

The amount of scholarships available each year varies, depending on a variety of factors including the success of our fundraising, the generosity of our donors, and the amount of funds available for scholarships.

8.  How many scholarships can I qualify for?

There is no limit to the amount of scholarships that you can qualify for.   Each student will be matched to the scholarships whose criteria your application fulfills.  A student may only receive one scholarship.

9.  Who is eligible for the Avon Dollars For Scholars Scholarships?

Any Avon resident who is graduating from high school and enrolling in a two year, four year, vocational or technical college.  Students graduating from Avon High School are eligible regardless of their legal residence.

10.  Are the scholarships based on financial need or are they merit based?

While financial need is the basis for awarding many of our scholarships, there are scholarships available to recognize exceptional community service, citizenship, merit, or a combination of  these outstanding qualities.

11.  Who decides who receives the scholarships?

All scholarship applications are reviewed by an anonymous and highly confidential scholarship committee.  This guarantees that the scholarship process is objective and nondiscriminatory and ensures that scholarships are available to a wide range of deserving students.

12.  I might miss the deadline.  What should I do?

In order to maintain a fair and equitable process to all applicants, the deadline is firm and your application must be completed by the deadline.  Late applications will not be accepted.

13.  How will I be notified whether or not I received a scholarship?

You will receive an e-mail notification that you have been awarded a scholarship and be invited to the Awards Ceremony.

14.  I have been asked to "accept" my scholarship.  Why?

The regulations of our parent organization, Scholarship America, as well as IRS regulations governing our non-profit status, require a student to formally "accept" their scholarship before we can make the award and disburse the funds.

15.  I don't yet know what college I am going to attend.  What should I do?

You will eventually need to update your application once you know what college you will attend.

Scholarship applications must be 100% completed.  Incomplete applications will not be accepted!

Submission of an application does not guarantee the award of a scholarship.  Awarding of scholarships is based on meeting all application requirements, the amount of money available, and the number of qualified student applicants.  Final selection of recipients will be made by a review committee of Avon Dollars for Scholars.
