AVON CARES SCHOLARSHIP:
This scholarship is awarded to a student who is a member of or advocate for the LGBTQ+ community and whose activity involvement at AHS or in the greater community demonstrates a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. A 250 word statement on : "How can we, in Avon, support our LGBTQ+ students better?" is required.
AVON LEO CLUB SCHOLARSHIP:
Avon Lions for young people, the LEO Club encourages students to develop leadership skills, foster teamwork and collaboration, and grow social awareness. This scholarship goes to a deserving member of the LEO Club.
AHS PTO SCHOLARSHIP:
This scholarship is awarded to an Avon High School senior attending a 4-year college. The student shall exemplify committed engagement to both the AHS community and collaboration with their peers through active involvement and participation in an Avon High School extra-curricular activity, club, or volunteer organization for all four years of their high school experience. The student will have made the most of their time at AHS and have given back to the AHS community.
AVON LIONS CHARITIES SCHOLARSHIP:
Since 1951, the men and women of the Avon Lions Club have served the community, country and world in the challenge of vision-related needs, disaster relief and improvement of quality of life. The recipient of this scholarship demonstrates commitment to these needs through actions in providing service to the community. "The student shall, in addition to active membership in the AHS LEO Club, have provided service to the community in the area of vision related needs; disaster relief; improvement of quality of life; or other community services above and beyond any community service required as part of the school curriculum".
AVON GIRL SCOUTS SCHOLARSHIP:
The Avon Girl Scouts Scholarship recognizes a current active Girl Scout in their senior year, based on her leadership skills and service to the community.
AVON HISTORICAL SOCIETY SCHOLARSHIP IN HONOR OF BILL YANDOW:
This scholarship is awarded to a student interested in history or historical preservation.
AVON PRIME MEATS SCHOLARSHIP:
Avon Prime Meats of Avon has given gracious support to Avon Dollars for Scholars activities and their annual fundraising efforts have made this scholarship available this year.
AVON TRAVEL BASKETBALL SCHOLARSHIP:
The Avon Travel Basketball Scholarship is awarded to a young person who played at least one year with the program. This individual who shows proven, positive contributions with an unwavering devotion to teamwork and the success of TEAM over the individual, is chosen based upon high ethical standards and hard work, not only in athletic efforts but also in their scholastic life.
AVON YOUTH LACROSSE SCHOLARSHIP:
Avon Youth Lacrosse is proud to support a scholarship to be awarded to a boy and girl who participated in Avon Youth Lacrosse and played a team sport at the high school level. Preference is given to an Avon High School lacrosse player as well as a student who has demonstrated good citizenship and academic success.
CARMON FUNERAL HOME & FAMILY CENTER OF AVON SCHOLARSHIP:
The Carmon Family scholarship to a graduating student who is pursuing a career in a care-giving profession based on academic excellence and community service.
DAVID AND MARDELLE PEÑA FAMILY SCHOLARSHIPS:
Given by David and Mardelle Peña and family, who have been extremely active in the Avon community and generous in giving back. There are two scholarships; one recognizes a student who has actively and extensively been involved in broad community service; the other recognizes a student pursuing a degree in the performing arts.
DOREEN AND JAMES MACNEIL SCIENCE SCHOLARSHIP:
This scholarship is given by AHS Class of 1970 graduate Douglas MacNeil in memory of his parents, Doreen and James MacNeil. This scholarship is awarded to a student with outstanding academic achievement, a passion for science and who is pursuing a college degree in the natural sciences such as Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Geology or Astronomy. The student must be ranked in the top 10% of the graduating class and have a combined SAT (Critical Reading and Math) above 1300. A 250-300 word essay on: "Why I wish to pursue a degree in Science" is required as well as a recommendation from a science teacher. This scholarship is awarded in the first year of an accredited four-year college. A second payment is issued upon entering Senior year if the degree is in a natural science.
DUBIEL FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP:
Richard Dubiel, an Avon High School graduate, Class of 1973, and former member of the Board of Directors of Avon Dollars for Scholars has established this scholarship along with his aunt, Madelyn Dubiel, who was a teacher for many years at Huckleberry Hill Elementary School in Avon. The recipient is a student pursuing a degree in engineering or education or plans to attend Trinity College in Hartford.
FRIENDS OF AVON MUSIC EDUCATION (F.A.M.E.) SCHOLARSHIP:
This FAME scholarship award is given to an Avon High School student who has consistently demonstrated their passion and dedication to Music throughout their high school experience. The recipient shall submit a letter of recommendation from the Music Department. The award will go to a student who has actively participated in the Band, Orchestra, Choral or Musical Theater programs at Avon High School. The recipient's application and essay should reflect their passion for music and the impact that the Avon Music Program has had on their high school experience.
GARDEN CLUB OF AVON SCHOLARSHIP:
Organized in 1944, the Garden Club of Avon seeks to stimulate interest in gardening and related activities, enhance the beauty of our community, work for conservation, and promote charitable, civic, and educational outreach. This scholarship recognizes a student who plans to pursue studies of horticulture, plant biology or environmental management.
IN HONOR OF CLAIRE FISHER BONTI '08 SCHOLARSHIP:
Claire Fisher Bonti was a 2008 graduate of Avon High school. Her scholarship recognizes a student who has worked hard to persevere when confronted with one or more obstacles, such as medical, family or personal. In addition, the recipient demonstrates a strong commitment to the well-being of others and to the betterment of the community.
JACOBSON FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP:
This scholarship was established by Barry Jacobson, a member of the Board of Directors of Avon Dollars for Scholars and his wife, Mari. It recognizes a student with strong academic achievement and a passion for the arts or athletics.
JOHN AND LINDA CARMON SCHOLARSHIP:
This scholarship goes to a student who is planning to pursue a career in a care-giving occupation and who has demonstrated academic excellence and community service.
THE JOSEPH FAMILY / SHOPRITE of CANTON SCHOLARSHIP:
This scholarship is presented by the Joseph Family to an existing ShopRite of Canton associate graduating from Avon High School. The recipient plans to continue their education at vocational or technical school, or a traditional 2-yer or 4-year college. The recipient is an active participant in school or community service.
LAURA SULLIVAN HONORARY SCHOLARSHIP:
This scholarship is given by Pam & Eric Rosow to honor Laura Sullivan, an Avon High School counselor in recognition of her extraordinary dedication to her students. The Laura Sullivan Scholarship will go to a deserving student who has high moral character, strong work ethic and has contributed to the AHS community.
MARTINEZ CHILDREN SCHOLARSHIP:
This scholarship is given by Cathy Martinez in recognition of the outstanding high school educational experience her nine children received at AHS, preparing them for their college and post graduate experiences. During their collective 20 years at AHS, 1998-2018, all the Martinez children participated in band, AP classes, sports teams, mentoring programs, and a variety of clubs and activities fostering school and community spirit. This scholarship is awarded to a student from a family with more than 2 siblings who has excelled both academically and culturally in the arts. Most importantly, this student has demonstrated a contribution of "self to others," the foundation of Ms. Martinez's parenting philosophy.
MICHAEL BRIGHENTI '74 SCHOLARSHIP:
Michael graduated from Avon High School in 1974 and became a successful Avon Businessman. He wants to make a college education possible for current Avon seniors.
MOORTHY FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP:
This scholarship goes to a top academic performer planning to pursue a STEM education, preferably a student who has been an active performer in the Avon Robotics program.
NORTHWEST COMMUNITY BANK, and it's divisions SCHOLARSHIP:
Northwest Community Bank is proud to support a scholarship to be awarded to a student who desires to pursue an education after high school.
PEOPLESBANK SCHOLARSHIP:
This scholarship has been established by PeoplesBank in Avon that opened in 2025.
PMP SCHOLARSHIP:
This Avon manufacturing company, located on Security Drive, gives this award to a student pursuing a career in science or engineering.
PUERTO VALLARTA RESTAURANT - AVON SCHOLARSHIP:
Established in 2025 by Avon Dollars for Scholars in recognition of Puerto Vallarta Restaurant - Avon's generosity holding an annual fundraiser on our behalf.
REISKIN FAMILY SOCIAL WORK SCHOLARSHIP:
Given by Dr. Allan Reiskin to honor his wife and daughter, who are both Social Workers, this scholarship goes to a student with demonstrated service and leadership and who plans to pursue a career in Social Work, Social Justice or related helping professions.
ROTARY OF AVON-CANTON SCHOLARSHIPS:
Members of the local Rotary started the Avon Dollars for Scholars Chapter in 1978. Yearly, the Rotarians fund 3 scholarships; the Bill Noble Service Scholarship; the Donald B. Studley Community Service Scholarship; and the Nancy Nation Community Service Scholarship.
