These bequests will fund these scholarships for many years, honoring the memory and legacy of those individuals for whom the scholarships are named.

ROBERT J. GORMAN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP (established 2024)
This scholarship was established through the bequest of Robert's sister, Patricia Gorman, to honor his memory. Robert was a builder in the Avon area. This scholarship will go to a male student pursuing a degree in engineering (preferably structural engineering), architecture, or landscape design. The student should demonstrate traits of honesty, integrity, kindness, and helpfulness toward others. Additionally, this student should have competed on one or more of the Avon High School football, basketball, or baseball teams.
JEREMIAH F. McWILLIAMS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP (established 2025)
This scholarship was established through the bequest of Miriam McWilliams to honor the memory of Attorney McWilliams, a long time Avon resident, who, along with his wife, Miriam, volunteered his time and generosity to the Avon community. Jeremiah McWilliams served on the Avon school board from 1976-1979, served on the Avon board of selectman from 1979-1981, and graduated from the Avon Police Citizens' Academy program. Eligible students should demonstrate an interest and commitment to public service with the intent to pursue a law degree and/or government studies to support that commitment.
